Kyle Petersen, “Matchbook Stories”
Our last Featured Artist was Kyra Morris, whose story RED PAPER was told in only eight sentences.
Our next writer works in an even shorter form: no more than 300 characters, including spaces.
Kyle Petersen is the founder of Matchbook Story, a literary magazine that publishes one brilliant short short story on the inside of many, many matchbooks.
Or, as Kyle says, “a strikingly small magazine.”
Kyle likes fire, camping, and playing Storymatic around campfires. He writes from California.
REACHING
The gun warmed against his belly: his sweet Ann needed that surgery. “I swear to you, Hal, I can’t take it no more.” She said it was on account of all their corn, corn, corn.
The teller said “Next!” like she pocketed your money. He stepped forward, reaching. His fields ran from here to the door.
